It's a challenge for the Australian squad to achieve unprecedented feats.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

This is the team that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, plus six more T20 titles, and once went 1,294 days unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, the ones sought by the record chasers, are all that remain for a side that has achieved everything.

That it took up to Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to complete their first ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the largest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, in truth, a testament to the bowling attack that have represented Australia over the past 50 years.

It is hard for their hitters to hold a record if not provided the opportunity.

Ultimately, the result of Australia conceding 330 was captain Alyssa Healy being given a chance to deliver her latest masterpiece.

Originally famous as the teenage relative of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after Australia couldn't capture either of the T20 or ODI World Cups conducted earlier and has witnessed all through 15 championship-filled years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup came three months after her bow and seven world titles have followed from 10 attempts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India temporarily stopped the successful run.

That loss "pushed us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy said this week.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the final and was named player of the tournament. She made sure her country would not fall short again.

The question of whether this latest epic knock topped that previous effort remains open for discussion.

Many contend the case for final game tension. Some might respond with the challenge that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's clear is this century was much more difficult to see coming.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 came as she led the batting statistics, but this performance followed six innings in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"For those following me in training, it's been a frustrating experience because it appeared I've had no rhythm completely," said Healy.

"However when you enter the playing area, your competitive nature kick in and you just lock into the match."

Healy's competitive nature has always been her key asset - and an irreplaceable characteristic in taking over from famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, out to the young fast bowler in every game, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's inspiration.

A single was taken off Gaud's first delivery and from there the batsman was on her way.

"A chance to take the field and engage in competition with her and simply enjoy myself in that regard, kind of motivated me," stated Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 balls - her swiftest at the global tournament - and her hundred in 84 deliveries while she punished short deliveries, scoring 21 fours and three maximums.

By the time she was removed Australia required another 66 at run per delivery - an achievable target now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Pursuing 330 is uncharted waters so I'm pleased we have the confidence to do that now," stated Healy further.

"Ideally we won't need to do it again but, should it happen, we are confident we can achieve it."

Those words will be the ultimate thing competing nations at this tournament need to hear.

During the last week a belief they will win from any position has grown stronger - this victory coming after win against Pakistan by 107 runs despite struggling at 76-7 at one point.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a match against traditional opponents England in Indore in ten days, by which point a last-four spot may probably be guaranteed.

It was at that stage they left the previous year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - a match Healy was absent due to damaged tissue in her foot as she led her country for the inaugural occasion at a significant event.

Such is her determination, she later said she wished she had played with the discomfort.

However although she later admitted those injuries have postponed plans to retire, this tournament is expected to be her concluding event as leader in ODI cricket and she is yet to win a world championship as captain.

Triumph in India would lead her to the peak of her last major obstacle.
